We're taking a wee break...please come and visit again soon.

Hi - We 're going to try out what it feels like to have a book club get together in the 'real' world as I think it would be good to have the opportunity to have a good old natter about the books we read. As we're based in Oxford - it will be close to home. If you're interested in coming - please drop us an email. I'll be posting a blog soon to let you all know more about it.
The next book choice will be up shortly - but we're taking a break from the monthly on-line discussions for a bit. See you soon and happy reading.

Hi - sorry this is a bit late in the day, but the discussion has been postponed 'til next month (Weds Sept 24th @ 9pm). My fault - forgot to take the book on holiday and can't catch up! But please make comments about what you liked/didn't like about
The Forgotten Garden etc whenever you like! That's the beauty of an on-line club - it's there for whenever you're in the mood to pen a few thoughts...
OK - I'd better go and get reading! See you soon - Justine

Hot off the press (it's just published this year), this month's book choice is full of intrigue.
I wanted to choose a book that was easy to get enthralled by - while you're chilling out on your hols. There were so many fab reviews about both of
Kate Morton's books that it seemed perfect for our reading club.
Here's a
wee synopsis, so don't read the following if you want the story to be a surprise...
A lost child: On the eve of the First World War, a little girl is found abandoned on a ship to Australia. A mysterious woman called the Authoress had promised to look after her - but has disappeared without a trace. A terrible secret: On the night of her twenty-first birthday, Nell Andrews learns a secret that will change her life forever. Decades later, she embarks upon a search for the truth that leads her to the windswept Cornish coast and the strange and beautiful Blackhurst Manor, once owned by the aristocratic Mountrachet family.A mysterious inheritance: On Nell's death, her granddaughter, Cassandra, comes into an unexpected inheritance. Cliff Cottage and its forgotten garden are notorious amongst the Cornish locals for the secrets they hold - secrets about the doomed Mountrachet family and their ward Eliza Makepeace, a writer of dark Victorian fairytales. It is here that Cassandra will finally uncover the truth about the family, and solve the century-old mystery of a little girl lost.
Kate Morton grew up in the mountains of southeast Queensland, Australia. She has degrees in Dramatic Art and English Literature and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Queensland. Kate lives with her husband and two young sons in Brisbane.
Follow this link for an interview with
Kate Morton. (It's about her first novel 'The House at Riverton' which also sounds like an excellent book).
