Hi Gleaming - you're always very punctual. I like it!

I found this book very easy to get into. I think the short, staccacto (sp?) style of writing made you feel like you were thinking Richard's thoughts - you were really in his head. What did you think?

well, this has been my favourite book so far, I think...not flawless, just thoroughly enjoyable with the right amount of thought-provoking-ness for me

glad you enjoyed it (seeing as I chose it!). What did you like about it? What point do you think Holmes was making with Richard's story - if any?

I loved sharing Richard's point-of-view - there was a real sense of stumbling-along with him, and I really gave myself up to the flow of it, a bit like he did, I think

I'm always late, aren't I? Sorry about that. I enjoyed the book too, but I thought it was a little lucky that he shut himself in and wore his headphones all day and yet still seemed to inspire loyalty from his housekeeper, etc. However, it was an interesting premise and I liked it very much.

it's actually a bit tricky, this...I enjoyed it, but I've been finding it difficult to analyse (I find it easier to be critical when I feel CRITICAL, if you know what I mean)

I really liked Richard - as did most people who met him, it seemed. I think Holmes was trying to make a point about happiness. We're all too busy striving for these ideals which supposedly make us happy (nutrition, fitness, wealth) and it's too easy to miss the things that can really make you happy - connecting with ordinary people (Anhil, Cynthis) who won't necessarily give you anything in return apart from feeling connected to something real. God - I should go and live in L.A with comments like that...man!
